Marcite

FLORIDA PREMIUM POOL MARCITE

Florida Premium Pool Marcite is a machine blended white pool finish of high quality which contains white marble aggregate, white portland cement, and additives to enhance strength, density, bonding, curing and shrinkage crack reduction.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Roughening the pool base cement surface provides a good basis for the mechanical bonding of the base to the pool finish.  In addition, a previously finished surface can be made suitable for re-finishing by sandblasting or applying acid.  Caution should be exercised to ensure all residual acid is removed by washing the base thoroughly with clean water.  Do not apply Florida Premium Pool Marcite over beaded droplets of water.

FOR RE-DOS ONLY:
Another method to be considered when replastering over old pool finish involves the use of a carburundum saw - strike 12" centers and use the saw to cut grooves in the old plaster.

MIXING PROCEDURE:
For best results use of a standard power mixing machine is recommended.  Use only clean potable water; WATER MUST BE CAREFULLY MEASURED FOR EACH BATCH - UTILIZATION OF A MEASURING PAIL IS HIGHLY RECOMMEMDED.  DO NOT ADD WATER DIRECTLY TO MIXING MACHINE FROM A HOSE.

Add Florida Premium Pool Marcite to water.  Approximately 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 gallons of clean potable water can be used to bring the mix to a lump-free consistency.  Allow the marcite and water to mix for 10-12 minutes to provide best workability.  Addition of other materials is not necessary; Florida Premium Pool Marcite is a complete product.

APPLICATION:
Apply Florida Premium Pool Marcite over a cement base that has been dried for a minimum of 24 hours.  The pool's walls and floor must be evenly sprayed with water before marcite application to reduce suction.  This allows adequate absorption to occur to enable Florida Premium Pool Marcite to dry in a natural manner.

SCRATCH COAT & FINISH COAT:
(1) Put down a thin coat of Florida Premium Pool Marcite - double back with another coat building to a thickness of ¼".
(2) Allow Florida Premium Pool Marcite to take-up adequately - then build up thickness on the walls to 3/8" and on floors to ½".  Follow with smooth trowelling.
(3) Best results are obtained when whole sections are completed at one time.  If application must be stopped or delayed, finish to a natural break to eliminate joining marks.
(4) Application can be best accomplished by mechanics that adhere to the professional plastering standards of the industry.

CURING:
Begin filling the pool with water when Florida Premium Pool Marcite has set up to a hard finish.  Addition of water before set up has occurred can cause pitting of pool finish surface.  It is also necessary to fog the walls above the waterline during the filling operation to prevent rapid curing especially on windy days when the humidity is low.  This fogging procedure will help eliminate plastic shrinkage cracks.

COVERAGE:
Florida Premium Pool Marcite will yield approximately 5-6 square yards per 80 pound bag of material.

PACKAGING:
Florida Premium Pool Marcite is packaged in 80 lb. heavy-duty, 3-ply moisture resistant bags.

SPECIFICATIONS:
The materials used in the manufacturing of Florida Premium Pool Marcite comply with ASTM C926-86 and ANSI A42.2-1971.  Florida Stucco Corp. Advises that maintenance of the pool's water chemistry be monitored frequently and kept within industry guidelines to ensure beauty, longevity, and integrity of the plaster surface.

PRECAUTIONS TO BE OBSERVED:
This product is portland cement based and can cause skin or eye irritation.  Any skin or eye contact with this product should be immediately washed with plenty of fresh water.  Wearing of a respirator is recommended when using this product.

WARNING:
Do not use bonding agent in the mixing or application of Florida Premium Pool Marcite.
